New images and plot details from Avengers: Age Of Ultron
The latest issue of Entertainment Weekly has release new images from Avengers: Age of Ultron. The new issue also goes some way towards explaining the villain’s motivations, with Ultron having been created by Tony Stark as a self-aware robot, designed to relieve him of his Iron Man duties. This is obviously a new angle on Ultron as in the Marvel Universe Hank Pym (aka the first Ant-Man) created the machine.
Age of Ultron begins with Tony Stark trying to fix the world by creating an all-seeing, all-knowing Ultron, who captains a robotic police force to restore order to the world. Obviously this doesn’t turn out well as Tony programmed Ultron to feel emotions which he gravitated towards rage rather than the intended compassion towards humans.
Joss Whedon explains that Ultron has some radical views of his own.
Ultron sees the big picture,
Okay, we need radical change, which will be violent and appalling, in order to make everything better’; he’s not just going ‘Muhaha, soon I’ll rule!’ He’s on a mission. He wants to save us.
In a bid to give Ultron a dose of humanity, Tony programs the machines personality to align with his own. This is of course a huge mistake as the robot inherits Stark’s cynicism but not his sympathy explains Chris Hemsworth.
It’s not the good version that could’ve come from [Stark’s] intellect and personality
It’s the bad son.
Chris Evans also shares his view on Ultrons personality
A lot of times when Ultron starts talking, it’s beautiful. It’s really intelligent stuff
He’s out to do the things he wants to do because he’s disgusted with X, Y, and Z. You could probably sit down with Ultron and have a really intelligent conversation. He could blow your mind with his views.
